On the roof of the hotel, our bees forage on herbs and aromatic plants grown on site, to provide the honey that will be used in the recipes, desserts, breakfast buffets & cocktails. The chef, Jean-Philippe Watteyne, and his team have also been foraging for the best of Belgian produce to serve a feast for the eyes and taste buds. The view on Leopold Park, the chef’s show cooking from his semi-open kitchen or the glassed wine cellar are also among the most seductive.

The chef of The 1040, “Jean Phi” is well-known to foodies for his restaurant I Cook in Mons and also from TV shows, TopChef (M6 France) and Les Ambassadeurs (RTBF-Belgium). Passionate about the heritage of his homeland, he brings out the best of Belgian cuisine in a classical repertoire that is mixed with some beautiful contemporary notes which invite guests to discover the exciting flavours of Belgium, or get back to their roots.
Matteo Vannini earned a Michelin star during his 3 years as a chef at Da Mimmo in Woluwé-Saint-Lambert.
